3ds max star

Image
just getting started with 3ds max. i already dont like the controls because they are pretty different from maya the camera seems clunky but it might be the mouse. learning object creation its interesting how you can have more control on the creation of objects positioning and rotating objects. i like how you can easily set the tools to align to the objects. then learning how the Sub-objects work. parenting and grouping objects.

Drums done

Drums are done more or less. i added a couple more lights. i can make it better probably but i still not too confident with materials and lighting and rendering. that and i ran out of time between work and life. but i had fun with this.

drums day 8

i pretty much just finsihed the materals by adding the rubber bits rubber on all the stands just me going though and seleecting the feet and other bis that look like they would be rubber. beginning to play with render settings these settings seem to be the best at the moment it takes a while to render but when it finishes it looks really good. i think i re organised the lights but here is another long render, its really starting to pop.

So on to materials and i gotta say this turned out pretty good pretty quick. just started initially adding materials to random bits here i had the drum set mostly added with materials now I'm just refining i think this was my first render more adding little more refining and the drum set is mostly added to materials i am going to still need to add details here and there and refine the materials a little bit more to really make it pop.

drums day 6

Okay modeling is complete for me as i figured out how to make the chains after looking at a chain i figured its more simple than i thought. i took a cylinder  made a lip and bridged the gap between took another cylinder to make the outer parts then it was a simple as duplicating the pair then i just had to by hand bend around the other bit (official term) with modeling more or less done i organised all the models into groups then moved around so they looked like a reasonable set up (atleast i think it does) now on to materials.

drums day 5

so i just finished the pedals for the bass drum and cymbals. i organised all the current models into groups  start of the pedal from a cube then duplicated it extracted the back bit to turn into a hinge then added a couple cylinders i took a cube and stretched it to make some foot grips then i made the last bits by modifying the cylinder and adding a smooth sphere. then just modified it to fit in the cymbal. ill probably need some time and help  to figure out how to make either a chain or something to attach to the pedals.

drums day 4

I definitely hammered out most of the modeling of the drum set  So heres me breaking the tripod ino threes then  melding the 3 bits making a bolt thing for the joint then just tripling and making a tripod   then added some details to the symbol   here i took a bit from the tripod and re purposed it to hold the snare drum same for the larger drum then i finished the stand for the other cymbals  i made the final holder by copying the larger one  i used smaller tripod bit to make a tightener  made the chair at this point i noticed the two top drums were misshaped so i had to adjust those, Maya also crashed for me but fortunately  my save was still good then made holders for the top drums almost complete modeling wise, i just need to make some pedals.
