Was working on the animation bit and i had a complete pose on 45 but as soon as i moved the timeline it removed it and i got just stopped for the night.
So im more or less done. i was gonna do a final video but the dogtag detached and the skeleton detached from the skin and i just cant take it any more lol. but i think i have the general idea but i think ill look up how to rig in max.
So this night was a nightmare. I couldnt get anything in the Hypershade to work like in the videos. the buttons i push dont bring up whats in the video. when i load up the project files i cant even find the hypershade stuff so i cant even find follow up. So im skipping most of the anything that involves hyper shade because i just cant make it work. And now the tail doesnt even follow the blend stuff either I should have just done a max tutorial lol.
Okay moving on and even his advance file didnt have the same joints moving as one so im not that worried about it. i think i get the principle of taking a bunch of weird groups and applying them to custom controls.
So the back legs have been a big pain in the butt. Im pretty frustrated and would like to move on and just pick up his thing or just skip this entirely i even tried to replicated on the other leg and that failed too so either something changed since his lessons or editions or something.
So i got started on the dog. made my own skeleton, the toes were a bit tricky but i got something close. Hes really confusing on the controls bit so i kind of want to do my own thing from the previous video.
Got the mouth to cooperate. it didnt work initially but i literally just took his script which is exactly the same then it work to make the splines all follow the mouth control.
This was from a the other day put it on the wrong blog So the joint still bent backward so im skipping to next step Blend shapes which i dont quite understand but it works Skinned he joints and its nice to see it working.
Got to setting up the right but ran into a issue with the controls i can get the ik rig to work the fk is a bit wonky and am unsure how to fix. ill figure it out in class.
So I got the arm to stretch!!!! after i figured out that the locater that the IK arm distance wasnt actually moving with the handle once i did that it stretched with the Node editor. however it was stretching both ways. So i ended up plugging in that script and it it works and bends and i am happy. also in the video it didnt pick up the window for expression editor but i left in in.
When the arm turns the second circle goes in this weird arc and i cant also figure that out either. So got the arm built up and able to switch from FK to IK . But i cant get the thing to stretch again and i have no earthly clue as to why. I have everything named properly and and the code sticks and the scale turns pink but it doesnt stretch and i am sick and tired of trying to figure out why. even if i skip it and use his files it doesnt help me if i gotta rig a completely different character.
So after proceeding with the next course lesson and i used that particular file since i couldn't get the right leg to stretch. I just wanted to highlight the constrain part as while i didnt utilize it yet. but the set key part is pretty interesting too and handy when it till come to animation. ill have to experiment with both of those when i can.
