Finished the bug man. have a lot of things to study for this weekend so i figured i finish it today.

Made a bit more progress with the colors Added a darker green on the off color to make a little more contrast. at this point i think ill play with the layer blending options and i think ill be finished.

Okay so i had to redo my shaders because i guess it didnt carry over. Just played with putting some color in some logical spots then learned how to smooth the borders so it gives a nice blended feature. need to figure out what to do with the rest of the blank space then what to do after i get all the colors i want.

Added a texture stencile did it for the eyes. couldnt quite get a honeycomb pattern but i think this works Scultping complete It aint easy being green.

Figured out how to make the Antennas align and i decided to model in the 3 eyes alot of bugs have on top of their head Made teeth! finally makes the head look more menacing and less derpy  Then figured out how to make decent spikes using the move tool and and fine brush tip. also my Tri's seems to be at about 2.6 or 7 million which is not bad bet. i think im mostly done with modeling.

Making some more progress. at this point im pretty happy with the over all shape so just spent time refining the indents and working on the claws. the Extrude brush is great because i can just hold it and get a consistent depth Also i shrunk the head a bit because it looked to big and derpy. Forgot how to make the antenna symmetrical on both sides and it says its not uniform and i forgot how to reset it at the moment.

Decided to work out the feet Made the spikes out of curves as ive learned to make the end really pointy.

Took your advice and tried freezing and using absolute tool. then i tried it without freezing in some spots then played around with the mandibles. upping resolution and using a pointed move tool helps. at this point i think im getting a good feel on how the brushes are suppose to function.

Started on the idea of plates that go in pace of muscle groups so just started adding I thought id be cool to add like a beelte horn thing on its back and added some more details i started a kind of outline and ridges to between plates and and some areas to help with details and hopefully give an exoskeleton look. \ Then started on the mandibles using curves

Forgot my project file but there wasnt much to it so i just re did the posing again. but now i have decent pics at least for the head so i want to work on that and then i think ill have a good idea for the rest. Forgot i added the for limbs before getting a rough shape for the head. played with mostly build and grow and some pinching.

Started moving some limbs around to the shape i know i want and i also learned there is a hide voxels tool that lets you temporalily remove parts so you can get under them which is nice Hello fellow human. Using the curves tool i added the start of the mantis for limbs. think i got a good foundation to start off of now.

Okay so took some time to work on base sketches I know my sketching may not be the best but i think i have a good idea on the profile, the shape and the layout of the head. once i start sculpting i think ill be able to get a better idea of the rest of the body.

Monster Ad-libs

Okay with tutorials out of the way in to the monster thing. I want to do a mantis-man-thing and with what i have in mind heres my Ad lib 2 Compound eye(s) studies the surroundings from the creature’s large socket(s).   A smooth nose rests below, but it’s the Mandible mouth below that takes all the attention. The mouth remains open to reveal a set of serrated teeth and a sharp tongue.   Tiny ears sit on each side of its Triangular head, which itself has 2 Antenna horn(s) protruding from the head .   Its Long Slender body extends below with 2 (maybe 4) arms resting at its sides.   Each arm ends with Scything hands.   The creature’s legs are Double jointed and it has clawed feet.   The creature is covered in Spiky Chitin skin. Some of the reference material i am gathering and i plan on working on some mock sketches as well and ill probably use one of the man profiles in 3d This one was in Zbrush i think.

9/102018 Part 2: electric boogaloo

Okay now picking up on the rest of the tutorials ill try to knock tyhem out by tonight also i am gonna be rushing a bity aswell. Final rendered image. dont know if id have time to render the rest before tonight but heres the roughly finished result. Couldn't really note on each image as i was rushing but i fell like i got a good gist of the expected controls.
