so it took a lot of experimenting but I managed to figure it out. I ended up making the faces in question a separate plane which made it much easier to uv unwrap and then I learned to just map the text on a separate layer then apply it. however from what I learned I could do it without making a separate plane.   at this point I'm effectively done. ill try to model some more and texture some more if time is available. I got other projects I need to krank out.

  got my buildings as done as id like as far as materials go. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to apply the text like you showed me on the statue

made a lot of progress today and I learned the materials a lot better. definitely gonna grind it out this weekend and I may email you for advice.

not too much to add today just played with materials. but I feel like I have a better understanding of how this works

at this point I'm mostly finished with the modeling as much as id like though ill still need to add some details here and there. at this point I'm gonna try and work on lights and materials

got the buildings mostly finished and added a couple details like the statue on top and the tarp cover. the statue is a lot of ngons so I just chamfered some of the details.

not gonna lie I had no energy today to work on this today and my other projects and work but I did manage to knock some of the other side building

still kind of chugging along focusd mostly on the side buildings I cut out the windows added then added windows and a door then made an array to make a residential city block  I am pretty proud of these steps. I think I just connect a bunch of edges then took every other and moved them to make the steps.

okay started knocking out some blocking and some minor details. also started taking more artistic liberties otherwise ill never finish this project. extended the roof inset and pushed the windows in cut out the doors and shelled the building, might help[ make the windows look better. made and open subbed the doors which turned out nicely and from why I can tell the doors don't have a handle made the brick steps for the doors. hard to see but I slightly inset the mid parts to give that bricky look started looping the attached building. think I got a good pace.

spent most of this session researching and planning versus actual modeling. but I did put a low poly sidewalk, added a roughly mansized reference that I can use to help get a good reference when I start modeling the details for the building. I just used some blocks to help get the size of the sidewalk theni slightly raised the plane the sidewalk is on made this block about the size of man because that will help me eye ball details like right here I was able to get a good eye for the height of the top of the door  then started laying out some edges so I can start modeling.

so i am picking the empire diner in New York as a reference as i really like its art deco style. here is an older pic i was able to extrapolate its rough dimensions and scale using google maps and guesswork. i laid out a rough block work  i also mapped it out to also exact meters

okay kind of pummeled through this one i was definitely   sick of it by the end and i didnt really do anything from the last video because it was a bunch of extra stuff made and duplicated floor grates messed with array made the door separated the door made the door handle which was kind of neat with the circle this bit got weird and i didnt know how to straighten it but it worked out who moved this grate?........"aliens" expertly crafted broken glass. now i have a question here when i created a shape out of the previous spline how do i get to that created spline without moving an edge to get to it. it doesnt show up on the shapes list expertly made electrical box and wires this part made me want to rip my hair out. i couldnt figure out how to make the shapes align with the loft tool. i accidentally made it a shape instead of a editable spline. then used the animation tools to make a row of

alright kind of shambling along. not much to see move along made and modify a door nothing too special then modeled a bendy window. did learn about splines and modifiers
